Just-Evotec Biologics’ Media Development and Supply group is seeking a cell culture media Associate Scientist who is passionate about expanding worldwide access to biotherapeutics through the advancement of continuous bioprocessing technology and mammalian cell culture processes. This person will support cell culture media development for client programs and platform media development. The candidate should have a fundamental understanding of cellular and molecular biology, especially protein synthesis, post translation modifications, and cellular metabolism.
The ideal candidate has experience in mammalian cell culture for protein production. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively over teleconference and web-based meetings are necessary. The ideal candidate is curious, creative, engaged, and constantly looking for ways to advance and intensify scientific processes through experimental design and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Execute experiments with supervision to support advancement of the Just – Evotec cell culture media platform.
- Contribute to the preparation of statistical analyses, reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.
- Design, execute, and analyze complex media screening DoE experiments to identify media additives that can improve cell viability, and product quality targets throughout long-duration upstream processes under supervision.
- Assist media development leadership at early- and late-stage cross-functional development team meetings.
- Author novel media formulations and documentation, transfer to Manufacturing, and support large-scale GMP media preparation protocols and deviations under supervision.
- BS in Cell Biology, Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field with 0-2 years of industry relevant experience.
- Basic functional knowledge of cell biology, cellular metabolism, and lab analytical equipment (pH meters, cell counters, osmometers, and metabolite analyzers).
- Experience with aseptic cell culture techniques.
- Experience working in a laboratory setting and following good documentation practices.

- Able to stay organized and relaxed in complex situations, keep track of multiple tasks and data
- Experience with Microsoft Office apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experience with DOE and statistical analysis, experience analyzing data using tools such as JMP, R, or Python is preferred.
Base salary offered may vary depending on individual’s skills, experience and competitive market value.
