Syst Immune is a leading clinical‑stage biopharmaceutical company with locations in Redmond, WA and Princeton, NJ. It focuses on developing innovative cancer treatments using bi‑specific, multi‑specific antibodies and antibody‑drug conjugates (ADCs). The company has multiple assets in clinical trials for solid tumor and hematologic indications and a robust preclinical pipeline.
We are seeking a skilled Research Associate / Senior Research Associate with experience in yeast or phage display technologies for protein engineering, directed evolution, or binder discovery. This laboratory‑based role will support protein engineering efforts to discover novel binders and protein leads. The position reports to the Director of Protein Engineering and joins a growing protein engineering team.
Key Responsibilities- Design and generate display libraries with guidance from experimental and computational data, including library preparation, QC, NGS sequencing, and flow cytometry‑based lead selection.
- Culture engineered yeast for lead selection and sorting.
- Construct/conversion of immune‑based repertoires from immunized animal sources for discovery and protein engineering campaigns.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions to optimize lead molecules, ensuring data quality and integrity throughout the discovery and optimization process.
- BS or MS in immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, or a related field.
- 1+ year industry experience in drug development.
- 1+ year hands‑on experience in display campaigns or genomics approaches in protein design or directed evolution projects.
- Proficiency in library design and generation, display‑based selection, and assay development.
- Strong molecular biology background; library generation experience is a plus.
- Cell culture experience (bacterial, mammalian, and/or yeast) is required.
- Experience in FACS‑based selection and sorting preferred.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
- On‑site work is mandatory.
Work in a cell‑culture laboratory with other scientists and in a standard business office with desktop equipment. Noise level is moderate.
Physical DemandsRegularly required to sit for long periods and operate standard laboratory and business equipment.
Compensation and BenefitsExpected base salary range: $60,000 – $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience. The compensation package may extend toward the higher end for exceptional candidates.
Benefits include 100% paid employee premiums for medical, dental, and vision; STD, LTD; 401(k) plan with a 50% company match up to 3% and a five‑year vesting schedule; 15 PTO days per year; sick leave; 11 paid holidays.
