Overview
Ulta Beauty is seeking a Lead Cashier (LC) to ensure efficient guest transactions and maintain exemplary cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. The LC plays a key role in training new cashiers, leading cross‑training efforts, and driving loyalty results. The position supports the leadership team with register open/close functions, associate exit inspections, and cashier chats, while promoting an exceptional guest experience and upholding Ulta’s values.
GeneralSummary & Scope
The Lead Cashier is responsible for:
- Driving store retail and service sales, omni‑channel, guest loyalty, and reducing retail shrink.
- Providing guest‑friendly service, including greetings, personalizing interactions, recommending products or services, and handling sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
- Partnering with associates to perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations.
- Booking appointments and supporting in‑store events to enhance the guest experience while meeting sales goals.
- Maintaining cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures to ensure readiness.
- Ensuring prompt attendance and adherence to all policies and procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities Performance
- Meet or exceed store goals for retail and service sales, omni‑channel, guest loyalty, and retail shrink.
- Enhance each guest’s experience by creating a welcoming environment and recommending Ulta products.
- Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges with professionalism.
- Collaborate with associates on makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demos to drive sales.
- Book appointments and support events that deliver an unparalleled guest experience.
- Oversee replenishment and maintenance of all cashwrap displays and impulse fixtures.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Create an inclusive environment supporting teammates, peers, and guests.
- Assist leadership with cashier chats and associate exit inspections.
- Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
- Promote the loyalty program and app to guests, leading associates, and fostering excitement.
- Train new cashiers and cross‑train other associates.
- Lead by example, engaging and influencing peers for peak productivity.
- Enforce cashier accountability for a personalized Ulta experience and adherence to system prompts.
- Participate in ongoing training including brand and category education.
- Collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business.
- Adhere to Ulta policies, procedures, and standards.
- Maintain dress code compliance.
- Complete all guest and associate transactions, ensuring proper cash and media control.
- Execute open and close register functions as directed.
- Maintain store cleanliness across cashwrap, sales floor, restrooms, backroom, and break area.
- Protect assets by meeting workplace safety, inventory control, and loss prevention standards.
- Perform other operational tasks as directed.
- High school diploma preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant work experience or equivalent education and experience (preferred).
- Proven ability to delegate, multi‑task, and solve problems.
- Strong guest service and selling competency.
- Experience addressing guest concerns promptly and professionally.
- Demonstrated success in exceeding sales goals and training new hires.
- Basic technology proficiency (Point of Sale, Apple devices).
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Customer relationship building.
- Ability to work under pressure with good judgment and adaptability.
Position Requirements
- Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be 18 years of age; minor cannot hold this role.
- Continuous mobility, including twisting, bending, pulling, pushing, crouching, stooping, and reaching.
- Frequent lifting or moving up to 25 lbs.
- Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
