The Northwest Business Development (BD) Leader is responsible for driving sales and growth in Northwest (Washington & Oregon, with a focus in Washington). The successful candidate will collaborate with both sales and operations teams to develop strong client relationships to maintain and grow a robust portfolio. This position will provide strategic direction regarding the sales and growth strategies to meet the sector plan, primarily in the infrastructure / transportation market.
The role is responsible for achieving results in alignment with Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and the overall company strategy.
This position reports into Atlas’ Infrastructure Business, West Region, to the Northwest Business Development Manager with a dotted line into the Northwest Division Manager. Peers will include other sales and operations leaders responsible for regional growth, profit and loss. This role will have no direct reports, at least initially. The Northwest BD Leader will develop and maintain a client-relationship network that includes business development professionals and seller/doers who are focused on developing, maintaining, and growing key accounts in the transportation market with excellent customer service and quality work.
In addition, the position is responsible for diversifying into water, energy and power, and advanced facilities markets. A team of dedicated sales and marketing professionals are available for proposal support as opportunities are identified and developed. This position will work closely with the Northwest Business Development Manager, the strategic pursuits team, and operations leaders across the regional Infrastructure business.
- Drive organic growth and lead business development efforts in Northwest (Washington & Oregon with a focus in Washington), aligning with strategic objectives.
- Establish, nurture, and expand client relationships, serving as a client manager for key accounts.
- Oversee client accounts to ensure client satisfaction and retention.
- Regular tracking of sales performance, pipeline growth and conversion, and backlog.
- Achieve sales Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Partner with the Northwest Division Manager (operations) to align strategy and growth objectives in the infrastructure business and liaise within the broader region.
- Develop and execute tailored business development plans for Northwest.
- Enhance business intelligence by gathering insights on clients, competitors, and market trends.
- Utilize strategic processes to anticipate market shifts and prioritize pursuits, contributing to developing capture strategies to secure new business.
- Lead and participate in key pursuits and teaming strategies to secure new contracts and projects.
- Coach and develop sales talent within the Northwest, including dedicated BD resources and seller-doers, to strengthen the team and foster professional growth.
- Represent and promote the company at networking events, industry meetings, and trade shows.
- Support organic growth by identifying and recruiting strategic hires to enhance business capabilities.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of market dynamics to inform business development strategies.
