Position Overview

The Lead Family Support Specialist will deliver services for residents that are strength based, personalized, and designed to equip families with the skills and support they need to achieve housing stability. The role includes assessment of needs, service delivery, job readiness, and facilitation of support groups and workshops. A social justice component requires critical thinking around racism and its impact on external systems, grounding antiracism principles in everyday work.

Responsibilities
  • Office Management: Work with the Director to develop office protocols, provide coordination, support, supervision, and scheduling for support staff (Family Support Specialists, Custodian, Office Assistant, Volunteers, Interns, Practicum Students). Review, complete, and submit timesheets for all support staff. Ensure completion of internal tracking sheets on or before the 25th of every month and that health and safety practices follow YWCA policies.
  • Housing Case Management: Assess clients’ basic needs at entry and ongoing; provide support services and referrals or linkages to other community agencies to resolve barriers to housing, employment, and basic needs; maintain complete and accurate client files; submit required reports; facilitate resident meetings, educational classes, workshops, and presentations; meet with clients regularly and track progress.
  • Employment: Initiate and develop relationships with local employers, develop job and internship opportunities, place clients, and support clients in maintaining employment by providing direct contracts and/or working with job‑retention specialists.
  • Quality Assurance & Systems Development: Implement the YWCA’s Social Justice Initiative, develop and implement quality assurance, procedural flow charts, and system development for housing services in collaboration with housing operations.
  • Client Support: Assist community members with job readiness skills, connect to Work Source resources, conduct assessments, provide job training workshops, assist clients with job retention, wage progression, and money and time management skills; maintain records and complete reports on demographics and program outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with communities of color and understanding the intersection of racism and poverty.
  • 2 years professional experience in providing case management services to families.
  • Professional experience as a service provider in areas of crisis intervention, domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health, employment services, low‑income, and homeless families.
  • Knowledge of community services available in Seattle‑King County for low‑income families.
  • Knowledge of Seattle‑King County low‑income, public and subsidized housing programs.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance.
  • Core competencies:

Hours, Rate, and Benefits
  • Hourly Rate: $28.00
  • Hours:

    40 Hours per week
  • Benefits package includes medical insurance, retirement plan, generous vacation, holiday, and sick leave plans.
  • Employee may enroll in the Fidelity 403b Plan at the time of hire.
  • After two years of employment, employees are eligible to participate in the YWCA Retirement Fund.
