Senior Software Development Manager, Project Kuiper

Have you wanted an opportunity to lead an embedded software team in an advanced satellite broadband telecom service? The Bus Software teams own embedded software, firmware for Kuiper satellite constellation.

This role is for a senior leader in Kuiper responsible for driving roadmap, requirements, and technical design across embedded components for different satellite hardware. You will work with your customers and partners to refine requirements, understand constraints, hire & grow your team, and iteratively deliver value to our customers.

Key Job Responsibilities

Work with our peer teams and customers to design suitable software systems and interfaces to fulfill the mission needs.

Develop a strategic plan for the growth of the team, both from a software services and organization perspective.

Hire & develop a diverse team of software engineers.

Aid in the design of mission-critical systems in Project Kuiper.

Collaborate with your fellow team members to form a strong foundation for a software organization in Project Kuiper.

Help onboard and mentor new team members.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

About the Team Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

10+ years of engineering experience.

5+ years of engineering team management experience.

10+ years of planning, designing, developing, and delivering consumer software experience.

Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects, and development teams in an Agile environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience partnering with product and program management teams.

Experience designing and developing large-scale, high-traffic applications.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $198,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $342,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
