Space

X is developing technologies to enable human life on Mars. We design, build, test, and operate the Starlink system, a broadband internet network delivering fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide.

The UXSW team at Space

X is responsible for the digital experience for Starlink customers, building web and mobile interfaces to set up service, monitor outages, manage accounts, contact support, and provide tooling for support staff and an LLM-powered chatbot. Engineers on the team directly deliver a high-quality internet experience from space for users globally.

• Develop well-architected, responsive, and performant web applications
• Develop highly reliable and available software systems for Starlink
• Design and implement highly available, fault-tolerant networks that operate for long periods with minimal maintenance at scale
• Full stack application development in a .NET micro-service architecture running in Kubernetes
• Focus on continuous monitoring and alerting to foster data-driven decisions and improve observability
• Work closely with internal partners to drive successful business outcomes
• Collaborate with other engineering teams across Starlink to advance architecture, design, and code reviews
• Deep dive into users’ problems to find efficient solutions
• Contribute to team discussions on architecture, design, and code reviews

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a STEM discipline and 1+ years of experience building full-stack software; OR 3+ years of professional experience building full-stack software in lieu of a degree (internship experience applicable)

• Programming experience in Python, C#, .NET, Go, Scala, Java, or similar object-oriented language
• Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Database experience with Postgre
  
  SQL, SQL Server, or similar technologies
• Experience with version control, CI/CD concepts
• Expertise in profiling and improving application performance
• Experience with build systems (Make, Bazel/Pants/Buck, Gradle) and package management tools (pip, npm)
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience with UNIX-like operating systems and CI/CD tooling
• A drive to deliver exceptional user experiences and willingness to own outcomes

• Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed

Pay range:

• Software Engineer/Level I: $ - $ per year
• Software Engineer/Level II: $ - $ per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is part of a total rewards package including potential stock incentives, discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase additional stock through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
