FULL STACK SOFTWARE ENGINEER, CONSTELLATION TOOLS (STARLINK)
Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide. As a member of the Constellation Tools team at Space
X, you'll build the user interfaces and backend to enable safe and efficient operations for all Starlink satellites and ground assets. Your products are the operational tools operations, engineering, and reliability teams rely on. In this role you'll curate smooth user experiences with thoughtful designs while limiting software complexity. Your contributions will directly impact operational safety for satellites and the ability to scale the network.
Responsibilities
- Develop well-architected, highly reliable, responsive, and performant web applications to command, control, and monitor fleets of assets
- Create aesthetic and easy-to-use user interfaces that reduce the operational load of operators and maintain high guardrails for safety
- Create and apply techniques, tools, and infrastructure that decrease software complexity and maintenance over time
- Maintain high software standards and software engineering best practices across the full stack
- Regularly sit with Operators to obtain firsthand feedback of how the team's products are used and what improvements can be made
- Demonstrate a strong attitude to learn and adapt quickly, diving deep into new technologies as needed to become an expert in frontend and backend technologies alike (while prior expertise in key areas is a plus)
- Bachelors degree in STEM & 1+ year of industry and/or internship experience; OR 3+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a STEM degree.
- Frontend experience in Angular, React, or a similar JavaScript framework
- Programming experience in Python, C#, .NET, Go, Scala, Java, or similar object-oriented language
- Experience with Postgre
SQL, Cockroach
DB, or similar relational database technologies - Production experience with infrastructure tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with version control, continuous integration, and continuous delivery systems
- Expertise in profiling and improving application performance
- Experience with build systems (Make, Bazel/Pants/Buck, Gradle) and package management tools (pip, npm)
- Strong attention to detail
- A drive to deliver exceptional operations tools and willingness to own all outcomes
- Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission critical deadlines
- Ability to work on an "on-call" basis on a weeklong rotational schedule
Pay range:
Full Stack Software Engineer/Level I: $ - $/per year
Full Stack Software Engineer/Level II: $ - $/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees in Washington State accrue paid sick time in compliance with state and federal law. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the Space
X Redmond office Monday to Friday.
