Data Engineer, Data Scientist, Software Engineer
* Description
* PROJECT OVERVIEW:
This project delivers new liquidcoolingrelated detections to two major site types: retrofit HRU installations and new build CDU systems. Work centers on taking existing detection frameworks, onboarding telemetry, validating signal quality, and customizing logic for each environment-then deploying through established engineering and solutions channels. The work is not greenfield development; instead, it is rapid execution through Experimentation Productization Operationalization using existing platforms and processes.
THIS ROLE'S CONTRIBUTION:
This role focuses on analyzing time series telemetry from liquid cooling subsystems (CDU/HRU) to confirm whether the signals meaningfully support new detection logic. The Data Scientist prototypes logic, performs backfill validation, transforms datasets, and helps define what "correct" looks like before deployment. They also create visuals and narratives that let engineering understand system behavior quickly. Strong practical statistics and data plumbing ability are more important than deep machine learning.
The DS is the analytical engine of the team-interpreting telemetry, identifying signal patterns, validating detection feasibility, and designing clean, actionable datasets. Their output enables developers to build robust detections and allows engineering to trust that the logic is grounded in real system behavior.
TOP
SKILLS:
1. 3-5 YOE Advanced KQL - Time series analysis
- make series, decompose, anomaly operators
- python experience is necessary for analysis
- MUST HAVE demonstrated analysis experience with large (wide & long) data sets
2. 8+ YOE Data plumbing & transformation
- assembling, cleansing, reshaping, and validating complex datasets - providing prototypes that developer partners can convert into logic.
- large-scale, high-volume telemetry formatting/transformation
3. 5+ YOE Applied Statistical Reasoning
- variance, distributions, IQR, pdfs, deviations; ability to reason about data quality and correctness.
- ability to rapidly falsify assumptions, choose correct statistical tools (not trialanderror), and reason about distributions, variance, PDFs, covariance, and frequency patterns
DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Analyze raw time series telemetry (temperature, flow, pressure, pump speed, etc.) for correctness and signal reliability.
* Perform practical statistics: variance, distributions, percentiles, anomaly patterns, IQR, deviations, etc.
* Build and transform datasets (wide long, long wide), perform data wrangling, cleansing, and aliasing.
* Write advanced KQL using make series, makelist, decompose series, etc. for rapid signal exploration.
* Use Python (as needed) for deeper transformations, prototyping, or validation scripts.
* Prototype detection logic, validate with backfill tests, and document expected behavior.
* Produce clear visual narratives explaining trends, anomalies, and correctness for engineering teams.
* Partner with developers to ensure logic is ready for deployment, and with PM to align on acceptance criteria.
