SQL‑compatible edition of Amazon Aurora is built on one of the most active code bases in the open source community. It offers enterprise‑class performance, availability and durability to our customers, along with the management benefits of RDS. Our teams are spread across Seattle, Boston and Bangalore.

We are a senior team in AWS. Engineers mentor, architect, and build large‑scale database systems that run across thousands of servers across multiple datacenters worldwide. You will own the design and development of significant system software components critical to our services. You will be part of the team that architects, designs, and implements highly scalable distributed database systems that provide availability, reliability and performance guarantees.

• Solve challenging technical problems at every layer of the stack.
• Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.
• Build high‑quality, highly available, always‑on products.
• Research implementations that deliver the best possible experiences for customers.

Design and code solutions to drive efficiencies, create metrics, implement automation, and resolve root causes of software defects. Build high‑impact solutions for our large customer base, participate in design discussions and code reviews, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Work cross‑functionally to help drive business decisions with technical input. Work in a startup‑like environment where the most important work is always in progress.

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• 7+ years of programming with at least one programming language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

• 7+ years of full software development life cycle experience including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Postgre
  
  SQL internals knowledge.

Base salary range: USD 168,100 – 227,400 annually (USA, WA, Redmond). Includes sign‑on payments, restricted stock units, health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
