Project LEO is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low‑latency, high‑speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. As a member of LEO MAC‑SW, you will be responsible for delivering embedded firmware code running on ground networks, customer terminals, and satellites. You will design, develop, and test complete LEO‑MAC firmware, and work with a cross‑functional team of innovators on unique wireless technology.
Role- Design, develop, integrate, and bring up Kuiper‑MAC firmware components and drivers in a real‑time embedded environment.
- Work cross‑functionally to define multi‑dimensional performance requirements (e.g., MIPs, memory bandwidth).
- Make performance and optimization trade‑offs to meet end‑to‑end use‑case requirements.
- Build component use cases and test cases, and debug code in the LEO embedded environment.
- Profile and execute code on RTOS and/or bare‑metal embedded environments.
- Contribute to defining services and functionalities delivered by firmware subsystems.
- Define, document, test, and debug firmware‑hardware interfaces.
- Follow software firmware best practices (clean architecture, refactoring, etc.).
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Basic Qualifications- 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience for new and existing systems.
- 1+ year of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
- 2+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
- 1+ year of object‑oriented design experience.
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- Knowledge of system performance, memory management, and parallel computing principles.
- Experience in embedded development in C/C++.
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
Base salary range: $ – $ USD annually (based on location in Redmond, Washington). Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
