Overview

As a Software Engineer II in the Calendar team, you will design and build AI-powered scheduling systems by integrating backend services and Large Language Models (LLMs) with Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and Outlook services. You will deliver modern Microsoft Calendar experiences across Monarch and Microsoft Teams, enabling intelligent coordination through Copilot and Places.

Join Microsoft's Time + Places organization, where we reimagine when, where, and how work happens. Our mission is to leverage cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) to reduce cognitive load and deliver agent-driven solutions that empower individuals and organizations in the hybrid work era.

This role offers opportunities to work on AI-powered scheduling, asynchronous collaboration, and location-aware coordination. You will be part of a team that values craftsmanship, reliability, and user impact-building services that help people reclaim time, connect meaningfully, and achieve more together.

Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. We embrace a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive.

Responsibilities

* Collaborate with product managers, designers, and partner teams to define user requirements and deliver intelligent scheduling solutions; participate in design reviews, code reviews, and agile planning processes.

* Drive architectural decisions and engineering excellence to ensure reliability, performance, and security in alignment with Microsoft's Secure Future Initiative (SFI).

* Design and implement backend services for Microsoft Calendar experiences across Monarch and Microsoft Teams, integrating deeply with substrate application programming interfaces (APIs), Copilot, and Places.

* Contribute to planning and execution by identifying dependencies, creating design documents, breaking down larger work items into smaller tasks, and providing accurate estimations with minimal oversight.

* Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) to monitor systems, features, and services for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and lead restoration efforts for simple problems.

* Champion Microsoft culture and values in all aspects of design, collaboration, and delivery.

* Embody our Culture and Values
