Full Stack Software Engineer, Data (Starlink) — Redmond, WA

SpaceX is developing technologies to enable human life on Mars and to provide global broadband via Starlink, the world’s largest satellite constellation. SpaceX designs, builds, tests, and operates all parts of the system, including satellites, user terminals, and the supporting software that brings it together. We are seeking world-class engineers to help maximize Starlink’s utility for communities and businesses around the globe.

A software engineer on the Starlink program will tackle challenges that improve our ability to fully utilize the deployed hardware, with the goal of delivering the best possible satellite internet experience to customers, including under-served communities.

• Develop a highly reliable and scalable enterprise data platform empowering users to ingest, process, store, and query at petabyte-scale
• Create new functionality and end-to-end data pipelines that improve how the business operates
• Collaborate with peers on architecture, design, and code reviews
• Build prototypes to prove out key design concepts and quantify technical constraints
• Own all aspects of software engineering and product development
• Deep dive into business problems, find efficient solutions and apply first principles thinking

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, engineering, math, physics, or scientific discipline; OR 2+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree
• 1+ years of experience in full stack development, software engineering, data engineering, or data science

• Programming experience in Scala, Java, C#, Python, Go or similar languages
• Experience optimizing in-stream, big data processing and analytics frameworks like Apache Kafka, Spark, Flink, or similar
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, data lakes such as Hive, Delta Lake, PostgreSQL, Cockroach DB or similar
• Experience with data exploration tools like Grafana, Metabase, PowerBI or similar
• Good understanding of version control, testing, continuous integration, build, deployment and monitoring
• Good understanding of statistics, machine learning algorithms and frameworks

• Willing to work extended hours and weekends when needed

Pay Range:

Software Engineer/Level I: $ - $ per year

Software Engineer/Level II: $ - $ per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge, education and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package  may also be eligible for stock incentives, discretionary bonuses, and a 401(k) plan, along with medical, vision, dental coverage, and other benefits. 3 weeks of paid vacation and 10 or more paid holidays per year are offered, with paid sick leave per company policy.
