Sr. Software Dev Engineer, Leo Ground Control Services
Amazon Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Leo will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
Key Job Responsibilities- Participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and test to operations.
- Automate mission planning and execution to efficiently operate the Leo fleet at scale while maintaining space safety and maximizing service availability for Leo satellite Internet customers.
- Develop embedded software in C, C++, Rust, or other languages in a real‑time operating system environment.
- Develop AWS cloud services that manage the Leo satellites.
- Write system applications for satellite command, file transfer and telemetry.
- Work closely with Leo ground service teams and satellite agent teams to support satellite operations.
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Basic Qualifications- 7+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
- 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
- 7+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
- 7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

BenefitsThe base salary range for this position is – USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
