As a Software Dev Engineer II, you will design and develop system‑level components for Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, a cloud‑native, fully managed relational database engine that blends open‑source flexibility with enterprise‑grade performance, availability, and durability. You will own the architecture, implementation, and ongoing improvement of high‑quality, highly available, and scalable distributed database systems, while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across teams.

• Collaborate across diverse teams, projects, and environments to solve challenging technical problems.
• Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions that improve service performance, durability, cost, and security.
• Build high‑quality, highly available, and always‑on products.
• Research and evaluate new implementations to deliver the best possible customer experience.
• Create metrics, implement automation, and resolve root causes of software defects.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Work cross‑functionally to inform business decisions with technical insight.

The Aurora PostgreSQL team is dedicated to supporting new members, with a broad mix of experience levels and a culture that celebrates knowledge‑sharing and mentorship. Senior members provide one‑on‑one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews, and are committed to assigning projects that empower team members to grow and take on more complex tasks.

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• 1+ year of experience in C++, Rust, or a related programming language.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Experience with large‑scale distributed systems and database internals.
• Strong communication, leadership, and customer focus.

Base salary range:  –  USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
