Software Development Engineer, Aurora Source engines

Description

The Aurora organization is looking for software developers in performance engineering to deliver the optimization of open source and cloud-native databases. You will build upon AWS’ advanced infrastructure innovations in compute, storage, networking and deliver software optimizations that fully exploit the cloud capabilities.

• Design and develop innovative software solutions to further enhance the performance, availability, and durability of Amazon Aurora.
• Collaborate with a team of engineers to push the boundaries of the PostgreSQL engine and storage integration.
• Write high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code adhering to best practices.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of new features and functionalities within Aurora.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues related to Aurora's functionality.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in database technologies and PostgreSQL developments.
• Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.
• Build high-quality, highly available, always-on products.
• Research implementations that deliver the best possible experiences for customers.
• Analyze workloads and engineer solutions to drive performance improvements with Aurora engineering teams and customers.
• Create metrics, implement automation, and resolve software defects to enhance software architecture efficiencies.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Build high-impact solutions to deliver to our large customer base.
• Work in a startup-like development environment, where you’re always working on the most important tasks.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is  -  USD annually. The Amazon package includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
