Avionics Technician (Opto-Mechanical)

Compensation: $25.00 - $35.00 / hour
DescriptionAs an Avionics Technician (Opto-mechanical) at Impulse, you’ll be responsible for assembling, inspecting and reworking optical and opto-mechanical assemblies used in low-earth orbit and beyond. Your work will directly impact the reliability and mission success of our Mira and Helios spacecraft.
Responsibilities- Perform opto-mechanical and electromechanical assembly work.
- Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and work instructions
- Use optical metrology tools to check quality of optical assemblies.
- Troubleshoot issues and rework optical assemblies.
- Work with manufacturing engineers to improve assembly rate and efficiency
- Collaborate with engineers and quality assurance on issue resolution, process improvements, and documentation updates.
- Record build data and ensure traceability of parts and workmanship per aerospace standards.
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 2+ years of experience with opto-mechanical assembly, such as assembling and aligning lenses and mirrors.
- 2+ years of experience in a production environment, e.g. in aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, etc.
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills
- 2+ years of experience operating centration machines and interferometers
- 2+ years of experience with adhesives in a production environment
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience working on opto-mechanical assemblies for space applications.
- Electromechanical assembly experience
- Cleanroom experience
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full‑time hires, you may also be eligible for long‑term incentives, in the form of stock options
