Description

The Space Systems Integration and Test group seeks a Principal Engineer Electrical or Sr. Principal Engineer Electrical (Integration and Test) to join the SDA program in Redondo Beach, California.

Job Responsibilities
  • Use technical standards, principles and techniques frequently.
  • Develop I&T test procedures, specifications, and test limits.
  • Execute I&T testing, monitor tests, troubleshoot, and document all test activities.
  • Perform moderately complex professional tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Understand NG test engineering practices and principles.
  • Comprehend electrical circuits and software within flight hardware and EGSE.
  • Support EGSE and flight hardware test/troubleshooting efforts.
  • Follow escalation plans and participate in anomaly resolution for FRB approval.
  • Travel and support different shifts when required.
  • Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Maintain infrequent inter‑organizational and customer contacts on routine matters.
  • Coordinate with ITEE team lead, electrical test conductors/technicians, and I&T managers to complete tasking.
  • Participate in program review boards (ERBs, TRRs, FRBs, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine‑hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications For Level 3
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience – or – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – or – PhD with 1 year of professional experience.
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
  • Ability to learn and integrate new programming languages based on previous experience.
Basic Qualifications For Level 4
  • Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of professional experience – or – Master’s degree with 7 years of professional experience – or – PhD with 5 years of professional experience.
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
  • Ability to learn and integrate new programming languages based on previous experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and integrate new technologies.
  • Experience with hardware or software testing and test scripting.
  • Experience with proliferated systems testing or production line testing/planning.
  • Directly related experience in Integration and Test.
  • Experience in Electronics troubleshooting and nonconformance documentation and resolution workflow.
  • Environmental testing (Thermal Cycle/Thermal Vacuum chamber testing, EMI testing).
  • Programming or debugging experience with STOL/JAS, Python.
  • Experience with tools such as Manufacturo, Odoo, InControl, Jira/Confluence, Git/Bitbucket.
  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense industry (development or test).
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.
