seeking a Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our pioneering team at our Redondo Beach, CA location. In this highly collaborative and technical role, you will lead process innovations, guide tooling and assembly strategies, and shape the future of aerospace manufacturing within our Aeronautics Systems sector.
We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-tech environment, who can lead senior engineers, and who has a sharp eye for process optimization and producibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and guide a team of senior manufacturing engineers
- Provide manufacturing input to design teams for tooling feasibility and optimal production methods
- Author and manage Tool Usage Instructions (TUI)
- Define sequence of operations and identify opportunities for process and cost improvements
- Support proposal efforts and cost estimating
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers
- Travel to customer sites for tool prove-out as required
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflow and reduce inefficiencies
- Ensure adherence to product quality and production schedules
- Bachelor's in a STEM discipline with 8+ years of experience OR Master's in STEM with 6+ years
- Strong experience in mechanical assembly, tooling, and engineering drawings
- Working knowledge of GD&T and root cause problem-solving
- Technical writing, documentation, and training experience
- Experience managing non-conforming material reviews and resolution processes
- US Citizenship required and ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
- Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field
- Experience with military production programs
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP tools like SAP
, MES
, and model-based engineering - Project Management or Earned Value Management experience
- Experience working in early production lifecycle and readiness reviews
- Strong stakeholder communication skills at all levels
