Overview
Mycronic's Global Technologies division is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Applied Plasma business line (Surfx Technologies). The role focuses on driving product development from concept to production release, owning the New Product Introduction process, and ensuring reliable, manufacturable mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities- Lead mechanical system design activities from concept through production release.
- Own the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, including design, prototyping, validation, reliability testing, and commercial readiness.
- Perform mechanical analysis, testing, and data‑driven optimization to verify performance, safety, regulatory compliance, and quality.
- Investigate root‑cause issues in production or at customer sites and resolve complex mechanical failures.
- Facilitate product transfer from engineering to manufacturing, ensuring documentation, CAD standards, and knowledge transfer.
- Coordinate cross‑functional activities across engineering, operations, supply chain, and quality teams.
- Evaluate customer proposals and vendor bids for design feasibility, cost, maintenance, and technical compliance.
- Manage project timelines, priorities, and deliverables with strong ownership and attention to detail.
- Mentor associate engineers through rigorous design reviews.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; master’s preferred.
- 5–10 years of hands‑on experience designing and developing mechanical components and systems.
- Proficiency in core engineering design principles, analysis methods, and 3D CAD software.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and thrive under pressure.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to customer sites as required.
- Current authorization to work in the United States.
Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications; expected base salary range is $–$ annually.
LocationRedondo Beach, California.
Working Conditions/Physical & Mental DemandsThe role requires regular talking or hearing, use of hands or fingers, handling or feeling objects, occasional standing, walking, sitting, and reaching with hands and arms. Vision requirements include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Noise level is usually low to moderate. Standard office environment with significant computer work.
