Reliability Engineer, Facilities & Infrastructure

As a Reliability Engineer at Impulse Space, you will partner with Maintenance, Facilities Engineering, and Production Departments to develop and implement a site-wide reliability program focused on maximizing the uptime, availability, and lifecycle of critical infrastructure and equipment. You will own the development and continuous improvement of our CMMS, preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, asset criticality framework, and reliability metrics. The systems and processes you develop will be designed to scale with rapid production growth, equipment changes, and expansion across multiple sites.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and own a site-wide reliability and asset management program for critical facilities infrastructure and equipment
  • Partner with Maintenance, Production, and Engineering to develop robust preventive and predictive maintenance strategies that can be standardized and deployed across multiple sites
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the site CMMS, including asset hierarchy, equipment records, PM programs, work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history
  • Develop maintenance strategies that can adapt to equipment relocations, retrofits, new installations, and evolving production requirements
  • Define reliability and maintainability requirements for new equipment and infrastructure installations, including maintenance access, monitoring, redundancy, and critical spares
  • Establish asset criticality assessments and maintenance priorities based on operational impact, safety, cost, and failure consequences
  • Support deployment of predictive maintenance and condition-monitoring systems using BMS and other equipment monitoring systems
  • Monitor equipment data, alarms, trends, and performance indicators; establish appropriate alarm thresholds and escalate developing issues to Maintenance and Engineering leadership.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and other reliability analyses to identify and mitigate repetitive or high-consequence failures
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle cost through engineering modifications and maintenance strategy changes.
  • Track and report key maintenance and reliability metrics, including equipment uptime, PM compliance, corrective vs. preventive maintenance, open work orders, mean time between failures (MTBF), and mean time to repair (MTTR)
  • Develop reliability standards, procedures, and best practices that can be replicated across Impulse Space facilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, facilities engineering, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience implementing or significantly improving CMMS systems and maintenance programs
  • Demonstrated experience developing preventive and/or predictive maintenance programs
  • Strong understanding of maintenance and reliability principles, asset management, and failure analysis
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with maintenance organizations and technicians.
  • Experience working in fast-paced manufacturing, aerospace, industrial, data center, semiconductor, or other high-reliability environments
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience with critical power, HVAC, process utilities, vacuum systems, test stands, launch infrastructure, RF systems, avionics, or other mission-critical equipment
  • Experience with BMS, PLC/SCADA, condition monitoring, vibration monitoring, thermography, or other predictive maintenance technologies
  • Experience developing asset criticality assessments, FMEA/FMECA, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), or lifecycle maintenance strategies
  • Experience scaling maintenance and reliability programs across multiple facilities or rapidly growing organizations
  • Experience supporting new equipment installation, commissioning, and equipment relocations from a reliability and maintainability perspective
  • Experience with CMMS platforms, asset management systems, and maintenance data analytics
