Chipton-Ross is seeking multiple GNC Engineer 2's for a contract opportunity in Redondo Beach, CA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)- Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or a related engineering discipline and ? 8 years of industry experience or a Master's degree in a related field and ? 6 years of industry experience or PhD degree in a related field and ? 4 years of industry experience.
- Experience using MATLAB/Simulink or C/C++ in the context of designing and implementing attitude-control or state-estimation algorithms.
- Experience performing actuator/sensor sizing and selection.
- Experience with modeling, simulation, and verification/validation of 3?
DOF or 6?
DOF GNC systems. - Ability to perform complex kinematics, dynamics, and control system analyses for spacecraft GNC.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
Looking for an Engineer Guidance Navigation Control 2 to support our Vehicle Dynamics and Controls department. This position will serve on-site at Space Park in Redondo Beach, CA.
ResponsibilitiesDesigns, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms and software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, submersibles, surface ships, missiles, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of launch, flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality.
Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations to achieve a desired position, orientation or orbit in space. Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control laws and hardware and software requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.
- Experience with early-stage spacecraft conceptual design, i.e. "clean sheet" design work.
- Experience with software and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Experience with satellite I&T and on-orbit operations.
- Ability to lead a small team of GNC engineers and collaborate with other subsystem engineers and program leadership.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
Bachelor's Degree is required.
School must be accredited.
HOURS9/80 workweek. On-site. This role includes on-console activation team support, which may occasionally include 12-hour shifts, overnight support, and weekend support.
