DescriptionAs a Mechanisms Technician at Impulse
, you will support the assembly, integration, test, and maintenance of spacecraft mechanisms and mechanical subsystems. This role works hands‑on with precision hardware that must perform reliably in launch and space environments, following detailed procedures and strict quality standards.
- Assemble, integrate, and test spacecraft mechanisms including hinges, latches, deployment systems, actuators, and release mechanisms
- Follow detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, and procedures for flight and development hardware
- Perform mechanical inspections, torque verification, alignment, and fit checks
- Support functional testing, environmental testing, and troubleshooting of mechanisms
- Document build steps, nonconformances, and test results in manufacturing and quality systems
- Maintain cleanliness and configuration control of flight hardware
- Work closely with engineers, quality, and other technicians to resolve issues and improve processes
- Support rework, repair, and root‑cause investigations as needed
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Technical background in mechanical systems, aerospace manufacturing, or related field (trade school, military, or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience with precision mechanical assembly
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T as well as assembly procedures and specifications
- Proficient with hand tools, torque tools, and measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches)
- 8+ years of hands‑on experience with mechanisms and components working on aerospace, spacecraft, satellite, launch vehicle or defense manufacturing
- Familiarity with cleanroom or controlled assembly environments
- 4+ years of hands‑on experience with mechanism testing (functional, deployment, or life‑cycle testing)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required
- Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, or shifts as needed to support program milestones
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, full‑time hires may also be eligible for long‑term incentives in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision and dental coverage as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.
Impulse Space’s spacecraft manufacturing business is subject to U.S. export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR). This position requires applicants to be either U.S. Persons or persons eligible to obtain an export license from the U.S. Departments of State, Commerce, or other applicable U.S. government agencies.
