Wireless Communications Service Technician

Location: Regional (Travel Required)

Pay Rate: $29.45 - $33.76 / hour

Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a skilled Mid-to-Senior Level Wireless Communications Service Technician to join an industry-leading team. As a vital member of our technical operations, you will be responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, and support of advanced wireless communications systems.

The ideal candidate blends strong technical troubleshooting abilities with outstanding customer service, providing innovative solutions to satisfy complex client needs.

Installation & Maintenance: Install, service, and repair wireless communications equipment, including UHF/VHF, 800/900 MHz systems, dispatch consoles, microwave systems, wireless broadband devices, and CCTV equipment.

Codeplug Programming: Create mid-level programming codeplugs (12+ channels, trunking, and multiple zones).

System Design & Support: Recommend appropriate hardware and equipment tailored to specific client requirements.

Field Operations: Perform field service calls, including regional/overnight travel and participation in on-call rotations as needed.

Experience: 5+ years of hands‑on service technician experience diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing land mobile radio (LMR) equipment (e.g., Motorola, Kenwood, Icom, Vertex) OR equivalent military experience.

RF & Systems Expertise: Deep understanding of two‑way radio theory, RF propagation characteristics across frequency bands, battery backup systems, base stations, repeaters, multicouplers, and duplexers.

Test Equipment: Proficiency operating communications service monitors, spectrum analyzers, watt meters, TDRs, FDRs, and multimeters.

Schematics & Networking: Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and circuit diagrams. Basic IP networking experience, including TCP/IP principles and NIC programming.

Technical

Skills:

Competency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Licensing & Screening: Valid driver's license required. Successful completion of background check, drug screening, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.

Certifications: CET Certification (Journeyman level expected within 6 months of hire) and R56 Certified Installer.

OEM Systems: Training or certifications in Motorola Astro 25 products (Quantar, GTR
8000, MCC
5500/7500), MotoTRBO products (Capacity Max, Capacity+, Connect+), or equivalent.

DAS/BDA: Experience designing, troubleshooting, and installing Bidirectional Amplifier (BDA) and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).

Circuitry: Component-level knowledge of audio, RF, digital, and microprocessor electronic circuits.
