Peninsula Community Center, a ministry of Peninsula Covenant Church (PCC), builds community by providing personal, healthy, and meaningful connections through aquatics, fitness, tennis, PE+, and community programming. PCC is a vibrant and forward‑thinking church in Redwood City comprising worship, adult, youth, children, missions, school‑age child care, preschool, PE+, and the Community Center. Principle ObjectivePrepare PCC’s fitness and community center to ensure the campus is safe, available, and beautiful.
Principle Working RelationshipThis position reports to the Center Facilities Director.
Summary ofKey Responsibilities
- Maintain the community center building, three pools, and five tennis courts.
- Perform chemical checks on all pools and make minor adjustments when needed.
- Provide custodial and light maintenance, ensuring common areas within assigned buildings and grounds are clean, clear of debris, in working order, and safe for members and visitors.
- Inspect outdoor common areas and clear debris, standing water, or other items that may have been left or blown in.
- Establish, maintain, and strengthen collaborative working relationships with other campus‑wide departments and center staff; actively participate in organization‑wide activities as required (e.g., team meetings, mandatory program meetings).
- Identify potential safety concerns by assessing problems, identifying solutions, taking corrective action, and notifying supervisor and/or on‑site staff as necessary.
- Be punctual, energetic, well‑rested, focused, detail‑oriented, dress in proper attire, take initiative, follow through, meet deadlines, and ensure tasks are completed.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and good listening skills with the ability to problem‑solve; attend weekly meetings.
- Be personable, friendly, inquisitive, respectful; remember names and other details; interact respectfully with members and staff.
- Look for the best in teammates at all levels; manage conflict promptly, respectfully, and directly; maintain a high level of productivity, professionalism, and confidentiality regardless of workload.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Minimum of a high school degree or equivalent.
- Physical ability and mobility to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods on a 14‑acre campus.
- Frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties.
- Lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts (up to 60 pounds) of weight.
- Communicate verbally and in writing (texts/emails) to exchange information.
- Operate assigned equipment including lifts and ladders.
- Must tolerate various weather conditions (most duties are outdoors).
- DOE background clearance required.
- Must adhere to and model PCC’s Safe Church policies.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Part‑time position averaging 15–29 hours per week.
- Expected to work most Saturday and Sunday mornings.
