Victim Programs Services Manager
The San Mateo County District Attorney's Office is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Victim Programs Services Manager
.
- Coordinating, implementing, directing, managing, and evaluating county-wide victim services and programs.
- Assisting in the development, implementation, and evaluation of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures related to victim programs and services.
- Selecting, training, and providing direction to subordinate professional, technical, and clerical staff.
The mission of the District Attorney's Office is the prosecution of adult and juvenile offenders, enforcement of consumer and environmental laws, provision of legal and investigative support to other law enforcement agencies, and dissemination of public information about law enforcement. Through our victim services programs, we also seek to aid those victimized by criminals.
The Ideal Candidate- Experience managing, planning, implementing, and evaluating victim advocacy program services.
- Knowledge of the laws, codes, and regulations governing victim programs.
- Knowledge of the current trends in support, research, treatment, and outreach education related to victims of crimes.
- Bachelor's Degree in sociology, psychology, administration of justice, counseling, or a related field.
- Superior interpersonal skills with expertise in motivating and developing staff.
- A positive and flexible outlook and excitement for new challenges.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational ability for handling multiple tasks and urgent issues quickly and simultaneously.
- Initiative and sound independent judgment when responding to the public and dealing with problems.
- Creative solutions when dealing with programmatic and staff issues.
- Experience in supervising, evaluating, and training personnel.
- Organize, supervise, and monitor county-wide victim programs, services, and events.
- Participate in the development of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and priorities for the victim programs.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with a variety of public and private organizations, including staff in other County departments and community agencies.
- Evaluate the sources of outside funds, prepare and submit grant applications, and administer secured funds.
- Provide staff assistance to higher level management on victim program or service issues.
- Select, supervise, train, and evaluate professional, technical, and clerical subordinates.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
- Four years of experience in a public safety, health, social services, or community-based program that included responsibility for program planning, client or customer services, program evaluation, budget administration, or community resource coordination.
- Principles and practices of public administration and program management, including planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Principles and practices of effective victim advocacy programs, including current trends in support, research, treatment, education, litigation, or related services.
- Principles of personnel training, supervision, and evaluation.
- Laws, codes, and regulations governing victim programs.
- Community resources available for victim support work.
- Organize, direct, and coordinate program services.
- Work cooperatively with other County departments and public and private organizations.
- Analyze problems accurately, develop recommendations, and take appropriate action to resolve them.
- Prepare complex and detailed written reports, procedures, grant applications, and contracts.
- Speak effectively to diverse audiences, including professional, clinical, and citizen groups.
- Apply principles and techniques of community organization, including community awareness, resource coordination, and mobilization of diverse community groups, as appropriate.
