Job Overview

As a Software Developer in Test on our Research & Engineering team, you will help ensure the quality, reliability, and scalability of next‑generation creative technologies. This includes AI‑driven tools and content pipelines used by developers and players. You will work at the intersection of research and production, partnering with engineers and researchers to build robust testing systems, automate validation at scale, and ensure new technologies meet the bar for performance and reliability in live environments.

Responsibilities
  • Define and drive test strategy and quality practices across emerging technologies and systems
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and tooling
  • Develop API, integration, system, and end‑to‑end test automation for complex pipelines
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD systems to enable fast, reliable iteration
  • Partner with engineers and researchers to ensure testability of new systems from early design stages
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues across distributed systems, tools, and runtime environments
  • Establish metrics, dashboards, and reporting to monitor system health and quality
  • Participate in design and code reviews to ensure quality and reliability
  • Mentor team members and advocate for best practices in quality engineering
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing, quality engineering, or SDET roles, including experience with AAA game engines (Frostbite, Unity, Unreal, Godot, or proprietary)
  • 5+ years programming experience in Python, Typescript, or C++
  • Expertise using coding agents in large code bases
  • Experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks and tools
  • Experience with API, integration, and system‑level testing
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows
  • Experience debugging complex systems and analyzing production issues
  • Familiarity with observability tools (logging, metrics, alerting)
  • Exposure to game engines, content pipelines, or developer tools
  • Experience working with emerging technologies such as AI/ML or procedural systems
Compensation and Benefits

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g., education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and a 401(k) to regular full‑time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.

In Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top‑up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full‑time employees.

Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
