Principal Database Developer​/Kernel and Query Optimization

Job Description

We are looking for a strong Database Developer who will be responsible for the research, design, and development of advanced features in the query optimizer component of Oracle Database. Additionally, you will add autonomous features and self‑learning and ML capabilities to keep the query optimizer at the leading edge with respect to competing database systems.

• Research, design, and develop advanced features for Oracle Database query optimizer.
• Add autonomous features, self‑learning, and machine learning capabilities.
• Maintain optimizer code, including bug fixes and functional enhancements to address customer issues and functional requests.
• Collaborate with other groups on cross‑group features such as data partition pruning, zone map pruning, bloom filtering, and database in‑memory costing and optimization.

• Strong research background with experience in database systems.
• Experience in C++ or similar system‑level programming.
• Knowledge of query optimization, data partitioning, indexing, and in‑memory optimization.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, fast‑moving environment.
