Why Box Needs YouThe Content Storage Gateway team manages key components of Box’s Content Cloud, optimizing upload/download pipelines that handle billions of requests and terabytes of data daily. We are investing in AI to accelerate engineering and need a Senior Engineer to help deliver best‑in‑class performance and reliability for our customers.
Responsibilities- Lead design and implementation efforts for new platform components.
- Optimize upload and download pipelines that handle billions of requests and hundreds of terabytes of data daily across a global infrastructure.
- Design and implement scalable services with a focus on reliability, observability, operability, and efficiency.
- Use data—metrics, logs, query analysis—to identify bottlenecks, validate changes, and drive architectural decisions.
- Be heavily involved in setting the platform vision and defining feature roadmaps.
- Participate in on‑call rotation and drive improvements to incident response and system resilience.
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to team growth and development.
- Strengthen engineering processes, principles, and culture within the team by championing a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience with ownership of significant technical initiatives.
- Extensive experience deploying and operating microservices in a cloud environment.
- Proven track record building services and/or tooling using Java, Go, Scala, or Python.
- Strong experience with distributed systems and metrics‑based monitoring and alerting.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a desire to learn new things.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience deploying and operating microservices on Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with content streaming and storage systems at scale.
- Curiosity about or experience with integrating AI/LLM tooling into software development workflows.

Pay RangeUnited States Pay Range: $198,500 USD – $248,000 USD
