Medical Robotics Computer Vision Intern

Auris Health, Inc., part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, is redefining medical interventions. By combining advancements in medical robotics, instrumentation, navigation and data science, we are building intelligence platforms capable of growing the applicability of robotics to a new spectrum of medical procedures. We are seeking a hardworking individual for a Computer Vision Summer Internship position within the Algorithms & AI team.

As an intern you will work closely with other Research Scientists, Analytics Engineers and Data Scientists to develop novel solutions in the areas of computer vision and robotic navigation. This will be an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in solving ambitious problems and contribute to technology development for next-generation robotic platforms.

Core

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and test computer vision algorithms with multi-modal datasets, for workflow recognition, anatomy/tool segmentation, and object detection/sizing (in Python).
• Experiment design, testing, and analysis of algorithm performance.
• Integrate new algorithms into data and machine learning pipelines.
• Design and extraction of metrics and associated statistical analysis of surgical procedure data for classification of procedure performance.
• Work closely with other computer vision scientists, analytics engineers, data scientists and clinical teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications :

• PhD candidate or Master’s degree in CS, EE, Robotics or equivalent fields.
• Strong background in computer vision and good understanding of 3D reconstruction, segmentation, pose estimation, and epipolar geometry.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning/deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, Tensorflow) for computer vision.
• Proficiency in Python.

Desired Qualifications :

• Experience in processing endoscopic and/or laparoscopic image datasets.
• Experience in deploying machine learning models into real-world cloud applications using MLOps standards.

The anticipated base pay for this position is between $27.00 and $50.00, but will be based on candidate’s program year, discipline, degree and/or experience.
