For the academic year, we enrolled over 45,000 students in which 68% identify as Latinx, 11% as Asian/Pacific Islander, 4% as Black/African American, 14% as White, 1% as American Indian/Alaska Native, and 2% as multiracial. The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to the use of a curriculum responsive to the students it serves.
- Teaching a full schedule of developmental and transfer level Graphic Communications courses as assigned;
- Lecture and laboratory instruction in professional video and graphic communications at any vocational level taught at the community college;
- Conducting classes, lab maintenance and operation, equipment inventory, class preparation, office hours, student evaluation and advisement, professional advisory and campus committee work, curriculum and program development, and student activities;
- Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed;
- Maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position and currency in teaching video production and graphic design;
- Participating in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning;
- Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, on-line or off-campus, and large group instruction classes as needed, may include off-campus instruction at local high schools for dual enrollment;
- Otherwise fulfilling all of the duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122; and
- Other duties as assigned.
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom; and
- Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of directly related professional experience;
- Any associate degree and six years of directly related professional experience;
- A valid California Community College Credential;
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
