Office Technology Instructor (Reedley College) – Part‑Time Faculty Pool

This part‑time instructor position is open until filled. The start date may vary. The college is a Hispanic‑Serving Institution serving a diverse student population, with 71% Latinx, 1% Filipino, 3% Asian, 2% African American, 19% White and 2% multiracial students.

Overview

The ideal candidate will share Reedley College’s commitment to educating its racially and socio‑economically diverse student population and will join a department dedicated to curriculum responsive to the students it serves.

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics and staying current in teaching Office Technology.
  • Teaching classes in computer basics, general office procedures and general computer office applications.
  • Teaching medical office administrative procedures such as coding, billing and medical filing.
  • Supervising a Windows‑based computer lab as an instructor.
  • Using a variety of pedagogies and integrating a wide range of instructional delivery systems, including innovative and creative uses of technology for face‑to‑face, online, and/or hybrid formats.
  • Communicating effectively with students.
  • Using effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhering to institutionally approved curriculum course outlines of record.
  • Evaluating student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments and oral responses in keeping with course objectives.
  • Providing course syllabi to students.
  • Maintaining classroom records in accordance with District Policy.
  • Submitting all required student grading and evaluation reports on time.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of directly related experience.
  • Associate degree and six years of directly related experience.
  • Valid California Community College credential.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience (when an equivalency is obtained).
  • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Professional competency evidenced by successful work and teaching experience.
  • Proficiency in current educational technology.
  • Related work and professional experience.
  • Experience in computer‑assisted instruction and other instructional technologies.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff and administration.
  • Ability to develop new and current curriculum, focusing on student learning outcomes.
  • Experience working with students of varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students, and understanding how historical patterns of exclusion shape participation and outcomes.
  • Willingness to examine and remediate one's instructional, relational, and classroom practices to better engage and support racially minoritized students.
  • Experience and skill in addressing equity issues in the classroom.
  • Potential for contributing to institutional vitality and growth.
  • Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals.
Salary and Benefits

Starting rates are $45.49 – $61.78 for lecture and $38.67 – $52.55 for lab. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
