Economics Instructor (Reedley College) – Part‑time Faculty Pool
Reedley College is a Hispanic‑Serving Institution that enrolls more than 10,000 students, 71% of whom are Latinx. The campus requires a dedicated faculty member to provide instruction in Economics in a variety of settings (evening, weekends, online, hybrid). The position is open until filled and offers part‑time assignments.
Essential Functions- Provide instruction in Economics in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, online or off‑campus and large group instruction classes as needed.
- Maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the position and currency in teaching Economics.
- Teach Introduction to Microeconomics;
Introduction to Macroeconomics;
Business Law. - Use a variety of pedagogies and innovative technology for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
- Communicate effectively with students.
- Use effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and institutionally approved curriculum outlines.
- Evaluate student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, oral responses, etc., in keeping with course objectives.
- Provide course syllabi to students.
- Maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy.
- Submit all required student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
- Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Master’s in Economics.
- OR Bachelor’s in Economics AND master’s in Business, Business Administration, Business Management, Business Education, Finance or Political Science.
- OR a valid California Community College credential.
- OR equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency required).
All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, and must be able to implement equity‑minded practices within the classroom.
Desirable Qualifications- Broad based academic preparation in economics/business.
- Professional competency evidenced by successful work experience and college teaching experience in economics/business.
- Enthusiasm for teaching and assisting students to succeed.
- Experience in computer‑assisted instruction and other instructional technologies.
- Able to communicate effectively (oral and written) and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
- Ability to develop new and current curriculum and focus on student learning outcomes to improve student learning.
- Experience working with students of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students.
- Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices to better engage and support racially minoritized students.
- Experience and skill with addressing issues of equity in the classroom.
- Potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth.
- Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals.
Starting rates range from $45.49 to $61.78 per hour for lecture courses and $38.67 to $52.55 per hour for lab courses. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
