Coordinator, Wildland Fire Technology (Full‑time, Categorically Funded)
Reedley College, Reedley, California
Responsibilities- Maintain the integrity of National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) coursework and standards as approved by local accreditation units.
- Teach courses in Wildland Fire and Forestry as assigned.
- Assist with general supervision and coordination of fire technology programs.
- Assist in developing instructional schedules, student recruitment, and outreach activities.
- Initiate and reconcile the purchase of supplies and equipment.
- Manage maintenance schedules for apparatus and equipment.
- Assist in the development of the annual budget.
- Assist with recruitment, screening, interviewing, and evaluation of faculty applicants.
- Conduct oversight of administrative requirements for adjunct faculty and trainers.
- Provide input to ensure excellent ongoing performance, rigorous evaluation, and consistent quality of training and standards.
- Assist in the advising and registration of students.
- Assist in the development and improvement of curriculum and courses.
- Create, provide, and support innovative programs, grants, and initiatives while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees as needed.
- Participate in program review, including student learning outcome development and assessment to improve student learning.
- Teach assignments in various instructional settings and times, including evening, weekends, online, offline, and large‑group instruction as required.
- Fulfill all faculty duties and responsibilities per Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse student backgrounds in the context of equity‑minded practices.
- Any master’s degree level discipline in which learning assistance or tutoring is provided at the college where the coordinator is employed; or
- A master’s degree in education, educational psychology, instructional psychology, or a related field with an emphasis on adult learning theory; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- Equivalency of education and/or experience (requires an equivalency petition if transcript titles do not match exactly).
- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion elements across all responsibilities.
- Recent experience working with racially and ethnically minoritized students and understanding the impact of historical exclusion.
- Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices to better support minoritized students.
- Related work and professional experience in higher education.
- Experience working with students of diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and disability backgrounds.
- Proficiency with computers and technologies used for high‑quality instruction and support.
- Strong communication skills with students and staff.
- Five years of full‑time professional experience in grant and project coordination at the community college level related to CTE program curriculum development, advisory committee facilitation, professional development, and student success.
- Knowledge of the NWCG Standards for Coursework Delivery PMS 901-1.
- Understanding of long‑term and strategic planning.
- Familiarity with national and professional fire service standards.
- Understanding of statewide needs regarding Wildland Fire and Fuels management training.
- Basic knowledge of NWCG and Cal Fire required Wildland Firefighter coursework.
- Experience working with industry partners and understanding critical hiring needs of the wildland fire service.
- Advanced interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience with State and Federal natural resources, fire, and forest agencies.
- Substantial organizational experience within a community college environment and knowledge of system policies and procedures.
- Experience in a fast‑paced team environment.
- Experience with advisory committees at the local or statewide level.
- Basic understanding of the curriculum process for non‑credit curriculum and workforce development in community colleges.
- Knowledge of the community college mission and goals.
- 178 duty days per year contingent upon funding.
- Starting annual salary: $71,054 – $106,970 based on education and experience.
- Annual doctoral stipend: $2,419.
- Fringe benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage for the employee and dependents, life insurance, and participation in the California State Teacher’s Retirement System (CalSTRS).
