Kinesiology Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool)

Position overviewWe are seeking an equity‑mindful Kinesiology instructor to join our part‑time faculty pool. The instructor will teach a part‑time schedule of Kinesiology courses, using a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned part‑time Kinesiology courses
- Use innovative technology to support diverse instructional formats
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff
- Follow the institutionally approved curriculum and course outlines
- Evaluate student progress using tests, examinations, written assignments, oral responses, etc., in line with course objectives
- Provide course syllabi to students
- Maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy
- Submit all required student grading and evaluation reports on time
- Teach in a variety of instructional settings and times as needed
- Perform additional duties as required by Administrative Regulation 7122
- Other duties as assigned
- Evidence of responsiveness to diverse student backgrounds and an understanding of equity‑mindful practice
- Master’s degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education; or
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the above and a master’s degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency)
Note: If a candidate’s transcripts do not exactly match the degree titles listed above, a petition for equivalency is required.
Desirable Qualifications- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility
- Recent experience working with underrepresented student populations
- Willingness to examine and remediate instructional practices to better engage minoritized students
- Professional work related to Kinesiology, health, or education
- Experience working with students of varied cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with disabilities
- Experience with high‑need student populations
- Collaboration skills with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student learning
- Computer literacy and use of instructional technology
- Effective communication with students and staff
- Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials
- Knowledge of the community college mission and goals
- Newly hired part‑time faculty placed on Step One of the Part‑time Faculty Salary Schedule
- Salary classification based on education and experience
- Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours
