Sound Devices seeks a creative and self‑motivated Logistics & Warehouse Manager to become part of our manufacturing team. The manager will oversee members in the logistics and warehouse department and work closely with Manufacturing, QC, Sales, Purchasing & Planning and our carriers to ensure efficient and accurate shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations. This role is also responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and executing ERP transactions to support production and fulfillment activities.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected in this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and assign work, provide direction and review personnel work performance
- Coordinate and ship outgoing domestic and international shipments of both finished products and components.
- Complete and maintain lithium‑ion (Li‑ion) battery handling and shipment training, and ensure all shipments comply with applicable dangerous goods regulations (e.g., IATA, DOT).
- Oversee inbound receiving operations including inspection coordination, discrepancy reporting, and timely put‑away of incoming materials and finished goods
- Review supplier invoices to ensure correct content and consistency with purchase orders and received goods
- Track courier bookings made by suppliers for inbound shipments to ensure visibility and timely receipt.
- Understand customer routing guides and adhere to all shipping instructions
- Maintain proper documentation for all shipments
- Develop processes and procedures within the department to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Work with existing and new carriers to improve performance and keep costs down
- Work with Fed Ex Special Brokerage to clear shipments daily
- Provide HTS code support to operations team
- Manage and oversee all warehouse operations including storage, organization, and inventory control
- Execute and maintain accurate ERP transactions including goods receipts, inventory adjustments, stock transfers, and work order material movements
- Conduct and coordinate cycle counts and physical inventory audits to ensure system accuracy
- Maintain safe and organized warehouse layout and enforce material handling procedures and safety standards
- Manage and process customer and supplier returns (RMA), coordinating with QC and the operations team to ensure timely disposition and accurate ERP updates
- Track and report key logistics and warehouse performance metrics including freight cost, receiving accuracy, and inventory variance, etc.
- Other duties as required
Experience:
- 10+ Years of experience coordinating domestic and international shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations
- Specific experience with International customs required
- Hands‑on experience with ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, or equivalent) for inventory transactions, goods receipts, and material management
- Experience with warehouse management practices including inventory control, cycle counting, and storage optimization
- Strong skills in the use of Outlook, Word, and Excel, UPS and Fed Ex software and the ability to maintain UPS and Fed Ex systems onsite.
- Must be well organized with good analytical, computer and communication skills
- Self‑Motivated, Self‑Starter, will work with minimal supervision
