Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of News, CTV News Saskatchewan is seeking an established digital journalist who thrives on breaking news, in-depth journalism, copy editing and SEO. The successful candidate will implement our digital strategy, grow our audience, and create engaging multi‑platform content.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist online production of articles and video; write, report and produce original stories and other content for all digital platforms
  • Work with newsroom leaders to assign resources to maximize production of articles, videos, photo galleries, and other original content
  • Regularly analyze audience data and SEO, and apply insights to digital strategy
  • Copy edit headlines, stories, and captions for grammar, accuracy, and adherence to ethical and legal standards
  • Assist in coordinating live streams on local websites and You Tube
  • Help produce and oversee performance of video content created for You Tube, Tik Tok and other platforms
  • Work may include visualizations in infographics, maps, timelines and data journalism
  • Monitor and publish wires, with an eye to SEO, keywords and social sharing
  • Monitor multiple social media streams for news, and respond to audience messages as required
  • Other duties as assigned
Critical Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience in print and/or broadcast news with a focus on digital publishing
  • Ability to independently make editorial decisions using strong judgment and ethics
  • Excellent strategic knowledge of digital news, a self‑starter who can lead digital growth and innovation with limited supervision and guidance
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to develop strong, positive relationships with colleagues
  • Must have an excellent command of the English language, and an ability to write accurate and engaging headlines. Experience with in the CTV News digital environment is an asset
  • Must be familiar with Canadian Press Style Guide and Canadian libel law
  • Knowledge of ARC CMS, Adobe Photoshop and other applications in the Adobe Creative Suite is an asset
  • Familiarity with newsroom management systems (e.g. iNews, etc.) and video encoding/format transferring an asset

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
