, which handles a broad range of sophisticated real estate and development matters.
The successful candidate will have 3 to 5 years of post-call experience in commercial real estate law, with a focus on the acquisition, disposition, development, and financing of income-producing properties
.
This role offers the opportunity to act for a court officer on a large-scale, complex real estate matter valued at approximately $1 billion
, requiring sound judgment, technical expertise, and the ability to manage high-value transactions with precision and efficiency.
You will work closely with senior counsel on all aspects of the transaction lifecycle — from structuring and due diligence to closing and implementation — while managing discrete work streams independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
.
- Draft, negotiate, and manage agreements for the acquisition, sale, and financing of commercial, industrial, and development properties.
- Conduct and supervise due diligence
, including title and off-title searches, corporate and zoning reviews, and related transactional analysis. - Prepare and review closing documentation, statements of adjustments, and conveyancing materials
. - Advise court officers and institutional clients on complex real estate, corporate, and regulatory issues.
- Coordinate with opposing counsel, lenders, brokers, and governmental authorities
. - Manage multiple active files and ensure deadlines and deliverables are met with accuracy and efficiency.
- LL.B. or J.D., and member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
. - 3 to 5 years of direct experience in commercial real estate law (not a lending role).
- Proven experience in acquisitions, dispositions, development transactions, and commercial financing
. - Strong technical proficiency with title, land registration, and corporate structuring issues.
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and transactional management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on large, multi-party matters.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with a practical, client-focused approach.
