Crisis and Respite Services is seeking a people first, results-driven leader with a passion for supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities. This is an exciting career opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, relationship focused leader in the role of Coordinator, Seasonal Respite.

This is a full-time term opportunity from March 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026. This position is located at Buffalo Pound Provincial Park. Please consider joining our team!

The Opportunity

As part of the Crisis and Respite Services Unit, you will be responsible to:

  • Champion a culture of person-centered thinking and lead a team in the delivery of seasonal respite programming.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of services to ensure alignment with policy, standards, and ethical practice.
  • Ensure appropriate allocation of resources to support individuals in safely achieving meaningful outcomes.
  • Manage 24/7 service operations, balancing client and staff needs in a camp
  • Lead the planning, engagement, recruitment, onboarding, and service delivery for the Camp Buffalo seasonal respite program through collaborative, consultative relationships with stakeholders;
  • Lead, coach and direct the work for a team that provides respite services in a 24-hour camp setting;
  • Establish, promote, and maintain safe work practices and environment in collaboration with multiple stakeholders;
  • Be accountable to individuals receiving services, their families and other service providers to ensure person centred service excellence in support of outcomes identified in the Crisis and Respite Services Workplan.

  • Be an empathetic problem-solver and communicator approaching challenges and solutions from the view of the individual receiving services from the Ministry;
  • Understanding of applicable legislation, programs and policies including Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom, HIPPA, FOIP Residential Services Act, Mental Health Act, Collective Bargaining Agreements, Occupational Health and Safety;
  • Develop, implement and monitor adequate financial administration and controls to ensure financial integrity and efficient, effective delivery of service; and
  • The ability to plan, prioritize and manage workload pressures and multiple priorities taking into consideration frequent interruptions and conflicting and changing deadlines.
  • Typically, the knowledge and experience required for this position would be obtained through a degree in Human Services or a related field with a minimum of 3 years experience leading a high performing team, ideally within the disability sector or related human service field. An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.

    You are required to be on site throughout the scheduled week, which is typically Monday – Friday but will include up to three weekends. This role is responsible for overnight stays during operations.

    Travel may be required to attend meetings away from headquarters. A class 5 driver’s license and valid First Aid/CPR is required.
