The Ministry of Education is seeking an innovative and highly motivated individual with superior managerial, financial, problem solving, analytical and interpersonal skills for the position of Manager of Accounting in its Corporate Services Branch.

The Corporate Services Branch oversees strategic projects, financial management responsibilities and legislative services. Corporate Services is committed to providing exceptional client support, building a strong team and being innovative to achieve its goals.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, this senior level position will provide leadership and professional accounting expertise. This includes responsibilities such as:

managing full-time staff in daily financial operations;

providing professional accounting advice to ministry executive and program management;

managing quarterly and year end activities and the development of schedules disclosing the ministry's financial position;

managing the ministry’s contract management system;

preparation and tabling of annual financial statements for special purpose funds;

addressing recommendations from the Provincial Auditor regarding ministry operations; and,

the assessment, development, and management of ministry internal processes and controls to safeguard public assets.

Typically, the knowledge required for this position would be attained through the completion of a degree in business administration, social sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A graduate degree or professional designation, such as a Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation, would be considered an asset.
