Core Responsibilities Operate truck and trailer vehicles (boom trucks, highway tractors, highboy/lowboy trailers, hydro‑vac, etc.) for transporting equipment and materials.
Load and unload construction equipment and related material.
Operate construction equipment (backhoes, excavators, trenchers, side booms, etc.) for the installation, service, maintenance and repair of natural gas systems (trenching, back filling, installing and repairing steel and polyethylene pipe).
Perform maintenance and service of construction equipment, trucks and trailers to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Assist and perform various construction duties for the installation, maintenance and repair of natural gas distribution and transmission facilities, including cutting, coating and wrapping steel pipe, cutting and fusing polyethylene pipe, tap distribution mains, pipe fitting, assembling and disassembling mechanical components, performing high‑pressure taps, and other duties such as hand shoveling, raking, sweeping, priming and painting, landscaping, rough carpentry and cement work.
Planning & Administration Plan safe work procedures and take reasonable precautions to protect self, other employees and the public, adhering to safety policies and procedures.
Participate in incident prevention, hazard assessments and reporting.
Keep workshops and worksites clean, organized and free from hazards.
Complete required documentation (permits, pre‑trip inspections, logbooks, power mobile equipment inspections, transport documents, hazard assessments, material management reconciliations).
Complete basic survey and as-built requirements and document changes on engineering diagrams.
Stay informed and perform work in compliance with changing Department of Transportation regulations, Highway Acts and amendments.
Qualifications
Education:
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Driver’s License: Valid Class 1A driver’s license (copy required). Applicants without a 1A license must obtain it prior to the end of probation; the company will pay tuition and examination fees once during the probationary period.
Experience:
Two (2) years’ work experience within the last five (5) years operating construction or industrial equipment such as haul trucks, backhoes, excavators, trenchers and side booms.
Additional Information The job is routinely scheduled for standby and is subject to call‑out situations.
Travel, including overnight stays away from the headquarters, is required; significant travel time and extended work hours are expected.
Applicants must be physically fit (verified by a physician’s certificate).
The position is safety‑sensitive and subject to the provisions of the Drug and Alcohol Policy for safety‑sensitive positions.
Important Note:
Regardless of prior experience, all new hires begin with manual construction work before progressing into equipment operation to ensure consistency, safety, and proper training.

Hourly Rate: $33.41 ($5,419.77)
