About the RoleAs a Rubber Tire Roller Operator, you will be responsible for operating rubber tire rollers to compact asphalt, soil, and gravel on road construction projects. You will work closely with the project team to ensure that proper compaction levels are achieved to meet project specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Operate rubber tire rollers to compact asphalt, soil, and gravel during road construction projects.
- Follow project specifications to ensure correct compaction and smoothness of road surfaces.
- Inspect and maintain the rubber tire roller before, during, and after operation.
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure efficient and safe operation of the roller equipment.
- Monitor compaction results and adjust equipment or technique as necessary.
- Perform daily equipment checks and ensure the roller is in good working order.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations while operating the rubber tire roller.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in operating heavy machinery preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating rubber tire rollers or similar heavy equipment in road construction projects.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Certification in heavy equipment operation.
- Proficiency in operating rubber tire rollers and other heavy equipment; understanding of compaction processes and safety standards.
Frequent travel between job sites within the City of Saskatoon and surrounding areas.
Additional Responsibilities- Monitor project costs and financial reports, providing feedback to operations and estimating teams.
- Act as liaison with clients, consultants, and owners to ensure customer satisfaction and successful project delivery.
- Work with the accounting team to meet cash collection and financial targets.
- Assist in preparing monthly progress invoices, reviewing accruals, and approving supplier and subcontractor invoices.
- For smaller projects, ensure project plans, coding, and locates are distributed to supervisors and crews in a timely manner.
- Lead all safety and environmental aspects on projects, ensuring compliance with OH&S and environmental regulations.
