Job Description and Responsibilities  The Utility and HVAC Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily activities of an assigned maintenance crew and ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of HVAC and utility systems.

This position will oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities, maintenance planning and scheduling, equipment reliability, and maintenance-related capital projects. The Utility and HVAC Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for optimizing asset performance while supporting departmental and organizational objectives related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost.

The position also provides direct supervision to HVAC Mechanics and coordinates and manages contractors as required to support maintenance, repair, and project work within their assigned area of responsibility.

This position is responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Supervise and provide leadership to an assigned maintenance crew including contractors

Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs for HVAC and utility-related equipment.

Plan, coordinate, and ensure timely completion of maintenance repairs and corrective work.

Assist in procuring and organizing inventory parts and materials;

Train and coach employees on safe work practices, policies and procedures;

Schedule employees and maintain timecards in Kronos Pay System daily;

Prepare, monitor and evaluate the results from equipment inspections and recommend appropriate corrective actions

Define and optimize spare part levels for assigned assets

Establish equipment criticality and technical status

Develop plans for maintenance downturns, major plant shutdowns and maintenance related capital expenditure projects.

Manage small maintenance capital projects.

Monitor and analyze Key Performance Indicators and metrics for assigned assets

Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements    Journeyman Red-seal certificate in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) or Journeyman Red-seal Electrician is preferred

Minimum of 3-5 years of Supervisory experience within an industrial setting.

Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS is considered an asset.

Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.

Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.

General knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, building maintenance and utility equipment technologies and maintenance principles.

Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage multiple maintenance priorities and projects.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation and safe work practices.

Ability to work collaboratively with employees, contractors, and other departments.
