The Ministry of Highways is seeking a motivated Equipment Operator for the Pavement Marking/Provincial Signs Crew. The ministry offers competitive pay, benefits, pension, leave provisions, career development opportunities, and flexible work arrangements.
The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-focused, adaptable, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to work in challenging weather and road conditions.
Candidates should have knowledge of operating, maintaining, and servicing highway maintenance equipment and the safe use of hand and power tools. Experience operating heavy, medium, and light-duty equipment, performing minor repairs, maintaining records, and using electronic systems is essential. A Class 1A or Class 3A licence is required.
Responsibilities include operating equipment for pavement marking, sign installation, highway maintenance, and snow and ice control; conducting inspections and preventative maintenance; assisting with traffic control and work zone setup; maintaining records; and supporting safe and efficient highway operations. Extensive travel and overnight stays may be required.
