OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Plastic Surgeon to join our surgical team. In this role, you will perform a broad spectrum of reconstructive and cosmetic procedures to improve patients' quality of life, self-esteem, and physical functionality. The ideal candidate combines advanced technical expertise with a keen aesthetic eye and a commitment to patient-centered care. Must maintain awareness of and adherence to national guidelines, and willingness to participate in educational activities to remain continuously up to date on changes in national guidelines.
Responsibilities- Surgical Reconstruction:
Performing complex procedures such asmicrovascular surgery, tissue expansion, skin grafts, and free flap transfers to repair tissue defects. - Patient Consultation:
Availability in a timely manner to see patients referred by other Beebe Healthcare physicians or APCs. Evaluating medical histories and physical conditions to develop personalized treatment plans. - Collaborative Care:
Working in multidisciplinary teams with oncologists, orthopedic surgeons, and dermatologists, especially for complex limb salvage or cancer reconstruction. - Post-Operative Management:
Monitoring healing, managing wounds, and prescribing medications for pain and infection. - Emergency Response:
Participating in on call to treat acute trauma, severe burns, or hand injuries.
Common Specialized Procedures
- Breast Reconstruction:
Rebuilding the breast mound following a mastectomy, remodeling and or reducing a breast after partial mastectomy, performance of procedures to achieve symmetry either after treatment for breast cancer or congenital defects, - Craniofacial Surgery:
Correcting congenital anomalies like cleft lip and palate. - Hand & Upper Extremity:
Repairing fractures, tendon injuries, and nerve compression. - Burn Care:
Cleaning wounds and performing scar revisions to restore movement.
- Education:
A Medical Degree (MD or DO) followed by a specialized residency program. - Training:
Completion of a 6-year integrated residency or a general surgery residency followed by a 3-year plastic surgery fellowship. - Certification:
Board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) is the gold standard for practice in the U.S.

- Technical Mastery:
High manual dexterity and a steady hand for precise work like microsurgery(joining small blood vessels/nerves). - Visuospatial Awareness:
The ability to "think in three dimensions" to envision how to mold and rebuild body structures. - Clinical Knowledge:
Deep expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology. - Communication & Ethics:
Maintaining high ethical standards and empathy when dealing with patients who have suffered severe trauma or disfigurement.
