Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and workplace safety standards. The EHS Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs that promote a safe working environment while minimizing environmental impact. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing, occupational health, and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive EHS programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide training and development for employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, first aid, CPR, and occupational health topics.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and ensure compliance with workers' compensation law.
- Prepare detailed reports on safety incidents, root cause analysis findings, and compliance audits.
- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to environmental health and safety.
- Create safety policy’s and develop department from scratch.
Requirements
- Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field, preferred.
- Proven experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA standards, and workers' compensation law.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical skills for conducting root cause analysis of incidents.
- Ability to develop training materials and facilitate training sessions for employees on EHS topics.
