SUMMARY
Support the day-to-day operational activities of an accounts payable department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOther duties may be assigned.
- Reviews purchase orders, statements and invoices to verify amounts owed.
- Records and processes payments for vendor invoices in accordance with internal accounting policies and oversees payment schedules.
- Process Accounts Payables for the various project companies as well as assisting processing Accounts Payable for all the Plants from receiving, matching documents, invoice entry to the printing of checks weekly.
- Perform month end accrual estimates from open and pending invoices and purchase orders.
- Responds to vendor inquiries and assists with the research of any discrepancies in billings and payments.
- Interface with Plant Managers concerning questions on charges to their Projects.
- Maintain accurate vendor files.
- Assist in the preparation of yearly 1099 tax reports.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE , KNOWLEDGEAssociate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; with five or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Intermediate computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets, accounting software. General knowledge of accounting procedures and principles, and 10 key adding machine and typing skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
