Position Title: Manager, Plant Accounting

DescriptionBasic Purpose – Responsible for planning, directing and leading the activities of the plant accounting department to ensure accurate and timely reporting of fixed assets and construction work in process. Ensures adequate accounting system controls for plant accounting, materials, transportation, inventories and the related accounting activities and transactions. Must comply with all Sarbanes‑Oxley requirements.
Responsibilities- Ensures that internal controls are adequate for compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley 404 requirements as relating to accounting and financial systems to produce accurate financial information on a timely basis.
- Communicates with management on the proper allocation of capital costs according to GAAP and FERC principles.
- Provides operating personnel and management with accounting support on major projects to ensure that all plant reports are timely and accurate.
- Develops and implements annual work plans that align with corporate goals and objectives.
- Participates in preparing rate case testimony, provides support for all plant accounts in filings and regulatory proceedings, and testifies as required.
- Motivates and leads a staff of professionals to achieve departmental goals. Provide staff development, education, guidance and direction including constructive feedback. Enhances staff professionalism and provides opportunities for cross training. Ensures continuous improvement.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
Monitors and enforces all compliance requirements for area of responsibility.
Performs related duties as assigned.
QualificationsEssential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited school and 6 - 8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, demonstrates technical knowledge of accounting theory and GAAP;
Utility and Regulatory accounting as defined by Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Attention to detail. Excellent problem solving, research, analytical, communications, decision making, and organizational skills. Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and administratively coordinate efforts with various departments on assigned functions.

PCs, financial spreadsheets, word processing, database and accounting software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. High workload levels may be experienced, especially during closing periods.
