Position SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Analyst to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of high-volume, full-cycle payroll while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical payroll knowledge, experience with multi-state payroll processing, and the ability to analyze payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and support month-end financial reporting.
- Process high-volume, full-cycle payroll accurately and on schedule for hourly and salaried employees.
- Administer multi-state payroll processing, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local wage and tax regulations.
- Review, validate, and reconcile payroll data, including timekeeping records, overtime, bonuses, commissions, shift differentials, and other earnings.
- Process payroll adjustments, retroactive pay, off-cycle payrolls, and final paychecks.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure employee data is accurate within the HRIS and payroll systems.
- Manage payroll tax with holdings, tax filings, and ensure compliance with all payroll tax requirements.
- Process and administer garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and other court-ordered deductions.
- Prepare and post payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.
- Assist with month-end payroll reporting, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial close activities.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, responding to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Support internal and external payroll audits by preparing requested documentation and reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, wage and hour laws, and payroll best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, reporting, and system efficiencies.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of payroll experience, including high-volume, full-cycle payroll processing.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll required.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and payroll compliance.
- Experience processing garnishments, tax levies, child support, and other involuntary deductions.
- Experience preparing payroll journal entries and supporting month-end close.
- Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP, UKG, Workday, Paycom, Ceridian, or similar platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive payroll information.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems and payroll integrations.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal payroll controls is a plus.
