Job DescriptionThe University of Nevada, Reno is seeking applications for an Accountant to join the Advancement Financial Team, supporting the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation’s financial operations. This role performs professional accounting work spanning general ledger accounting, endowment and investment accounting, cash management, gift and pledge accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support.
The Accountant exercises independent judgment in researching accounting issues, preparing analyses, and recommending solutions, while ensuring compliance with Foundation policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable IRS requirements, and University and NSHE guidelines. This position works collaboratively with Advancement, University departments, donors, investment managers, banking partners, and external auditors to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This role is designed as the entry point into the Foundation’s professional accounting career path, offering opportunities for progressive growth into Senior Accountant and leadership positions.
Required QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and two (2) years of related work experience OR
Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and one (1) year of related work experience

The University is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate.
